Although many students may think an LPN or RN are the only types of nurses, that is incorrect. There are over one hundred and four types of specialisms. The main ones include: Nurse Anesthetist, Family Nurse Practitioner, NICU nurse, ER nurse, Labor and Delivery nurse, Travel Nurse, Neonatal nurse, Pediatric nurse, Ambulatory Nurse, and LPN. There are also many different options besides getting a bachelor of science in nursing degree. Now, you are able to receive a nursing diploma. This helps in many cases to get through school faster and go straight to nursing. If you are thinking of becoming a nurse, it may be helpful to consider the various types of roles that are available in your area. Being a nurse also allows you to work in many different environments as shown in the chart below.
